(ECNS)-- Marriage registrations in China fell to about 6.11 million in 2024, down by 20.5% year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs on Wednesday.
China's marriage rate fell to 4.3 per 1,000 people in 2024, down 1.1 points from the previous year and marking the lowest level since 2020, according to the 2024 Statistical Bulletin on the Development of Civil Affairs.

The largest group of people getting married was those aged 25 to 29, accounting for 4.29 million marriages.
In addition, 3.50 million couples divorced last year, down from about 3.61 million in 2023.
