It is the second water discharge of the reservoir during the flood season.
An initial discharge of 2,000 cubic meters per second started at 11 a.m. July 28 and lasted for six hours. Then the reservoir switched to full sluicing mode to cope with high-silt floodwaters from the Yellow River.
As of 12 p.m. July 30, the water discharge concluded and the reservoir resumed normal flood control operations.
